Studio Violet
I created the Studio Violet name as a moniker for my Jazz genre recordings. I wanted the band identity to feel formal, yet approachable; the vast majority of music that will be released under this name is in the Funk/Smooth Jazz genre.
The first album I put together for this band was "Local on the 8's." This album included some of our favorite tunes off of the Weather Channel's Weatherscan playlist, alongside a few original pieces and a couple other charts that fit the vibe of the WeatherStarXL soundtrack from the late 80s, early 90's. I pulled strong inspiration from Hiroshi Nagai's album covers during the City-Pop movement of 1980's Japan. The Weatherscan channel was a staple of my childhood, and it gives me a strong sense of nostalgia; I attempted to get that feeling across to the consumer through the album cover design.
